How I grow my Bulbo. phalaenopsis?

Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis is the biggest species in the Bulbophyllum  genus. The name of 'phalaenopsis'  is given from its  leave size. This species is native to Papua New Guinea.  The enlargement of its pseudobulb and leave size are the important indicators for your growing behaviour  to this species. To me, the flower is a bonus but the healthy grow with the looooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg leave is a must. :)

I'm using seaweed based fertilizer (my own recipe)  as a foliar spray and  also applied composed soy bean as a slow release fertilizer. This bulbo is a heavy feeder, you need to apply more frequent fertilizer ( to me:  twice a week ). The sphagnum moss with a little charcoal is the best media for this rare species since its need more water  compare with the others bulbophyllum.

Hope will help you, especially the beginner.

How I grow my Bulbophyllum becarii?

Bulbophyllum becarii is a must  have for any collector of wild orchid especially in Bulbophyllum fan. This species native to Borneo with gigantic leave! Actually, I tried several time to grow this species. The leaves will shrinking from time to time and gone. At last, I found a technique how to grow this pretty species and would like to share it with you. Hopefully, it will help you, especially for the beginner.

Here the latest look of my Bulbophyllum becarii. This plant  will produce a bigger leave from time to time. The enlargement of the leave is the important sign that you give a correct growing condition. I grow this plant 2 years ago  with only 2 leaves.

The comparison between the new leave with the  MYR 1 note.

Here the technique! I will put a sphagnum moss at the 'pocket' of the new leave produced. The sphagnum will give a longer moist condition.
