Catasetum pileatum var aurantiacum

Catasetum pileatum Rchb.f., Gard. Chron., n.s., 17: 492 (1882) [1]. Spesis ini merupakan bunga rasmi negara Venezuela sehingga tahun 1921 sebelum ia digantikan dengan bunga orkid Cattleya mossiae var wagnerii [2]. Taburan hidup spesis ini ialah di Trinidad sehingga ke Ecuador [3]. Ia juga turut dikenali  sebagai nama 'Mother of Pearl Flower' [4].

Terdapat beberapa variasi bunga seperti putih, hijau dan merah. Variasi bunga yang ditunjukkan di dalam artikel ini ialah berwarna kuning.

Penanaman spesis ini di Malaysia boleh dikatakan biasa dilihat dikalangan pengumpul orkid tempatan. Ia amat mudah dijaga jika anda memahami keperluan 2 fasa kitaran hidupnya  iaitu fasa pertumbuhan aktif dan fasa pertumbuhan pasif.





Catatan aku:
Spesis ni memang aku suka sebab bunga besar dan senang hidup. Aku beli pokok ni di Lum Chin Orchid Nursery. Bila? Kalo tak silap dalam 2 tahun lepas...berbaloi!
